After two days even the week goes W(ed)T(hurs)F(ri).

Finally getting my act together!...sort of. Just had my introduction for volunteering at our local Oxfam (Charity shop for the unaware). I've been meaning to get into volunteering for over a year now but just hadn't found anything I could get really invested in, and didn't want to be another of those student volunteers doing it solely for their C.V. However, as I am working in a shop and currently have no work experience, this is definitely going to be milked. The shop primarily sells clothes and books, but also Fairtrade foods, bric-a-brac and music. Music i.e. CDs and LPs which apparently have been pretty poorly organised because nobody took an interest in it, until now! I've effectively been tasked with sorting through reams of the stuff, checking, pricing etc. I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be helping with the book sorting too and getting till training and window dressing (if I turn out to be any good at it), we get quite a bit of freedom to get involved in what we enjoy. I feel a bit lame for getting excited about it, but the thought of all that vinyl does funny things to me...

On the more crafty side of things; I recently knitting a grumpasaurus for my sister in attempts to cheer her up, she's been going through some rough stuff at the moment and it seemed to do the trick. Unfortunately, idiot here forgot to take a picture before I handed it over but here's the link: http://kat-knits.blogspot.com/2009/03/free-pattern-grumpasaurus.html
It was a really enjoyable make and not too difficult although I can't do cable binding on and picots, so being pushed for time I knitted around 7 little triangles on 3mms and stitched them instead.

Also my exceedingly good and very talented friend Emma (http://emmasaynor.tumblr.com/) restarted our mixtape exchange. We used to do this in school circa. 2006 and it's still really awesome;

So of course I got all excited, organised a playlist to burn and send one back, then iTunes decided to be ridiculous and so I can't burn CDs from it right now, I will sort it but I just hate faffing with computers and I'm quite okay with just ignoring it for now. Instead I decided to try and knit something resembling a cassette tape, which funnily enough, think came out okay;

I made up the pattern as I went along, and what appear here to be the 'eyes' are holes that go all the way through like a real cassette. I couldn't resist giving it a face, I'm like that, anthropomorphising everything.
